FINANCIAL PLANNING AND ADVICE
Our financial advisers are making use of a unique 4 step process which is built on a trusted relationship with our clients.
We also believe, not only in the construction and drafting of a proper financial plan, but in the execution thereof. Our financial advisers subscribe to lifestyle financial planning. This will enable them to get a deeper understanding of their individual needs and will consider even the smallest fact when constructing a financial plan.
Everything is built on a trusted relationship. We start by collecting all the data and detail information from the client pertaining to the client’s current needs and financial position. Then we analyse the information, establish their needs and help them to prioritise their needs. We then start drafting an action plan where we propose appropriate solutions.
Thereafter we continue to implement the action plan and solutions. We review annually to ensure the plan stays up to date and relevant.

Financial Planning
for Individuals and businesses
Financial Planning for Individuals:
Our financial advisers will take our clients on a life-long journey where we help to manage the foreseen
and unforeseen risks along the way right through to their retirement and during their retirement.
It all starts with a proper financial plan. This will be drawn up with due consideration to the client’s budget, balance sheet, needs, expectations and dreams. The financial plan will have a specific focus on the following:
Financial Planning for Businesses:
Our financial advisers will calculate the client’s need in the event of death, disability, sickness and dread disease with due consideration to the impact of estate duty and other taxes on the estate.
Our financial advisers will calculate the client’s need in the event of death, disability, sickness and dread disease with due consideration to the impact of estate duty and other taxes on the estate.
Our financial advisers will be addressing income shortfalls for dependents in the event of death, disability or critical illness. There are many expenses associated with death and if not planned for, it can erode the net value of the estate for the heirs. Clients need to provide for liquidity in the event of death to pay for death bed expenses, debt, outstanding taxes and estate duty where applicable.
Most people will never have the luxury to retire completely financially independent. An Integrated Retirement Plan might be the only way for them to start enjoying some retirement benefits while staying employed, full-or part-time. They could even turn a side hustle or hobby into an income generating opportunity. This will enable their retirement capital to last so much longer into retirement.
Retirement Planning is not a once off event, but a long process which needs meticulous planning, regular reviews and many client interactions. Retirement is for many clients just a date somewhere in the future. It is important for us to understand when, where and with how much our clients want to retire with. What are those hobbies they would like to continue with, how much will it cost? Once retired, how should the retirement funds be invested? What should the income draw-down rate be, considering interest rates, asset growth rates and life expectancy. Our financial advisers will consider all these factors and construct a proper pre-and post-retirement plan.
We subscribe in principle to goal-based investing, starting with the client’s end goals in mind. Our funds and investment plans are constructed through dynamic asset allocation process which will give our clients the highest probability to achieve a set goal over a specified term.
We focus on wealth creation and preservation for clients who have different short-term and long-term investment goals. Due care is taken in establishing our client’s risk appetite and expectations are managed accordingly. Further consideration is given to the client’s tax status and liquidity needs and investment vehicles are selected to cater for that.
For our retired clients or clients who are about to retire, we do a comprehensive cashflow analysis to determine the client’s future cashflow needs. The client’s future cashflow is tested against the client’s investment and retirement funds to protect the client’s future position and retirement capital.
We mitigate the client’s risk further by making use of a bucket approach where funds are placed in different buckets to provide for specific needs. Funds are selected by contrasting volatility, correlation, draw-down rates, underlying fees and track record.
WGA Wealth has partnered with Portfolio Analytics, our Discretionary Fund Manager, who oversees several distinct funds based on clients’ risk tolerance and profiles. These funds cover both local and offshore investments. Portfolio Analytics make use of leading asset managers, including Allan Gray, Coronation, and Ninety One, to manage portions of the funds according to their specific investment philosophies and styles. This diversified approach ensures a smoother and more stable investment experience for our clients.
All investment vehicles and solutions are offered through the leading product providers that we have partnered with. We offer both local and offshore investments.
We offer all healthcare related products through leading product providers in South Africa. This will include comprehensive medical aids, staff care products and Gap cover policies to cover medical aid short falls.
Cash-flow and debt management are some of the top priorities that business owners must deal with daily. The lack of proper cash-flow can have a devastating effect on the sustainability of a business. There are also many other risks as well which can be mitigated with the advice of a financial adviser and a proper financial plan.
This risk can be mitigated with a well-constructed executable buy-and-sell agreement, funded with life assurance policies. These arrangements should be reviewed regularly as shareholding may change or business valuations may increase.
This risk can be mitigated with a well-constructed executable buy-and-sell agreement, funded with life assurance policies. These arrangements should be reviewed regularly as shareholding may change or business valuations may increase.
Even though the business is a separate legal entity, the signed surety might bind the personal estate of the business owner with the outstanding debt, leaving his family with shortfalls in the event of death. The same applies in the event of permanent disability where the business owner who signed surety is not able to continue working, leaving the business in a position where debt can’t be repaid. These risks can be adequately covered with life assurance.
There are different methods of calculating the impact that this might have on the cash flow of a business. The question is how long it will take the business to get into the same financial position if the key person is no longer there to perform his duties. The recruitment, training and vesting of the new employee are all factors to consider when deciding on the amount of the cover.
The risks mentioned above is not an exhausted list. This is just to mention a few underlying risks that business owners might be oblivious to. There are also other risks a business might face which will be dealt with during the planning process.
Employee Benefits
The biggest asset a business has,
is its employees.
We will assist our employer groups with a comprehensive analysis of their employees’ needs and will provide a tax sufficient plan to cater for those needs.
We offer all employee related products, including pension and provident plans to ensure their employees can retire financially independent, group risk benefits to cover their and their dependent’s risk needs and affordable medical aids to cater for their individual needs. We also offer corporate wellness programmes to employers to help them manage the productivity of their employees by reducing absenteeism and boost morale.
Short term Insurance
for Households and Businesses
Clients and business are extremely vulnerable when assets are lost due to theft or destruction. This could potentially financially ruin an individual’s estate or a business. With the correct short term solution in place, we should be able to put the client back in a similar position as he was prior to the event. We have partnered with leading short term insurance providers to offer a comprehensive range of solutions.
Legal and Fiduciary Services
The drafting and safe keeping of wills is an essential part of the final execution of a financial plan. We have partnered with leading Trust companies to ensure our clients last will and testimony will be executed.
Setting up Trusts and the drafting trust documents for local and offshore assets is an important mechanism to protect assets for future generations and to reduce estate duty. Trusts can also be used to provide for minor children or heirs who can’t manage their own financial affairs. A Trust can also be used as a tax efficient structure if drafted correctly.

PLAASLIK BLY LEKKER
Confidence restored as South Africa exits the Greylist
October proved to be another resilient month for markets as both local and global indices ended in the green. Our local FTSE/JSE All Share Index returned 1.6% for the month, and is up a whopping 33.9% year-to-date. These returns have largely been led by the significant run in resource stocks, which make up roughly a quarter of the local equity market. While the resources sector was down -4.8% in October, the sector has returned a very impressive 95.1% YTD. Global Developed Markets, as measured by the MSCI World Index, were also positive for the month and returned 2.0% in USD, and are up 20.2% YTD.
Suid-afrika Verlaat Gryslys — Vertroue Herstel
